A few words from Daniel:
I know what it's like to feel like you have a failing body. Something related to my posture started to unravel 10 years ago, which brought about a whole host of unsettling changes in my structure, accompanied by pain and discomfort, as well as pelvic strain, foot pain, tennis elbow, fatigue and RSI in my wrists and joints. Having tried multiple therapies, acupuncture, yoga, massage, physiotherapy, countless specialists, a nerve specialist finally referred me to a Feldenkrais practitioner. Feldenkrais helped me learn that it was more about my posture, balance and how I was moving that was the cause of my symptoms. So, if I changed this, I would see an improvement.
Moving with ease and comfort is now my passion. This is the essence of the Feldenkrais Method I hope to share with my students through my Awareness through Movement classes. For good health and well-being, movements need to propagate throughout your entire body. It gives you a certain level of freedom again. People have heard of "mindfulness", "brain exercises" and "neuroplasticity", but your mind is connected to your body, and when you move with awareness has an effect. I have been running "Awareness through Movement" classes for a few years now, and am inspired by the method. I challenge myself as I delve into such systemic questions that puzzle us, such as "what is good posture?" or "how can I sit correctly for a sustained period of time in front of the computer?" and "why do I have a constant sore back?". What if through simple exercises, and repeating them mindfully with focused awareness you can create new neural pathways in the brain and open up new movement patterns to increase your overall well-being, posture, flexibility and energy. Through these classes I hope for participants to be able to understand more about themselves.
